The 2024 Australian Golf Croquet Championships held on the Sunshine Coast wrapped up on 8 September.

Golf Croquet Gold Medal
The prestigious Golf Croquet Gold Medal event concluded with a thrilling display of skill, determination, and sportsmanship, as Edward Wilson (SA) emerged victorious. Held at Headland-Buderim, the round-robin, best-of-three-games event saw each State champion competing for the coveted title.
Wilson’s performance throughout the tournament was marked by his tactical precision, strategic shot selection, and composure under pressure. His victory was a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport.
Wilson won all 5 of his matches, dropping only 1 game for the tournament to end on 10 games. Jack Williams (VIC) was the silver medallist winning 8 games, only being defeated by Edward Wilson.
This win adds to Wilson’s impressive list of achievements in the sport and solidifies his standing as the 2nd-ranked golf croquet player in Australia and the 20th-ranked player in the world.

Women’s Singles Championship
In an exciting showdown at the Golf Croquet Women’s Singles Championship held at Caloundra, Alison Sharpe from NSW showcased her exceptional skill and determination, defeating fellow NSW competitor Pamela Barnwell in the final with a convincing 2-0 win.
Sharpe dominated the final match, winning the first game 7-1 and securing her victory with a 7-4 win in the second game of the best-of-three series.

- Journey to the Final: Alison Sharpe dropped 2 games in earlier rounds but showed her resilience and tactical expertise to reach the final and emerge victorious.

This is Alison’s fourth Championship win, being victorious in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

Golf Croquet Men’s Singles Final
In a repeat of last year’s final, Robert Fletcher (QLD) once again emerged victorious over his brother, Malcolm Fletcher (QLD), in the 2024 Golf Croquet Men’s Singles Championship held at Caloundra. Robert claimed the title in straight games, defeating Malcolm 2-0, with scores of 7-4 and 7-3.
Robert entered the final undefeated, having not dropped a single game throughout the final rounds of the championship, while Malcolm had only dropped 1 game in. The rematch of the 2023 final lived up to expectations, showcasing the incredible skill of both players.

Interstate Shield
The highly anticipated Golf Croquet Interstate Shield took place on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, featuring top teams from all Australian states. This year’s competition delivered thrilling matches and outstanding performances from all teams, culminating in a hard-fought victory by New South Wales (NSW), who were crowned the undefeated champions.
For the third consecutive year, NSW and Western Australia (WA) dominated the competition, with NSW emerging victorious and WA securing second place yet again. The competition reached its climax in the final match, with NSW facing WA in a tight contest that had everyone on the edge of their seats.
Both teams showed incredible skill and determination throughout the final test, each winning 6 matches and 20 games. However, NSW edged out WA with a slight margin, winning 224 hoops to WA’s 216 in the decisive showdown.
