Twin Rivers Community Mallet Sports Club held the Official Opening of their two newly constructed courts with drainage and irrigation on Thursday, 11 April 2024. Funding was provided via the State Government Active Game Day Grant with additional financial backing from Logan City Council. The Active Gameday Projects offered grants to not-for-profit sport and active recreation organisations and local governments to work collaboratively, with the department, to deliver ‘field of play’ infrastructure projects that enhance participation opportunities at the local community level.

Dignitaries in attendance were Chris Wagland – Senior Engagement Officer, representing State Government, Jon Raven – Logan City Mayor, Councillor Karen Murphy, Croquet Queensland President Pat Habner and many representing Logan City Council and the community.

President Maia McGhee expressed her thanks to everyone who contributed to the new courts, saying “having four courts will allow our club to hold gala days and tournaments and the club can forge ahead and increase its membership with confidence, we are looking forward to a bright future.”

The Twin Rivers Project Team of Trevor Smith, Jim Barbey, Lesley Barber, Maia McGhee and Councillor Murphy are to be commended on their efforts.
